We have nominated Water Aid as our supported charity for 2006, and we pledge to donate £1 for every £50 you spend online via www.waterbuttsdrect.co.uk.
Water Aid are a registered charity providing clean water, effective sanitation and hygene education to the worlds poorest people.
They also seek for change at national and international levels by campaigning to 
governments of the world poorest countries and those most in need of a clean supply of water.
Clean Water is essential for life, but over a billion people in the world (nearly one sixth of the worlds population) do not have it. As a result of this, and poor sanitation, over 2 million people die each year from water-related diseases. That's nearly 6 thousand people every day. 1.8 million children under five die every year as a result of diarrhoea alone. In most cases this could be prevented or treated.
Which is why we want to do our bit to help. For every £50 you spend here, £1 will go directly to Water Aid, and from there directly to the people that need it. Just £3 would pay for a latrine cover slab serving a family of up to seven people in Nepal. £460 pays for two public water points each used by 500 people 
in Ethiopia. We really can make a difference.
